Identified as a catalyst project in Temple’s Downtown District Neighborhood Plan, Santa Fe Community Market is an exciting addition to the many cultural attractions of Downtown Temple. Pillar partnered with Covey and KPA to ensure this project integrates with the ongoing efforts surrounding this site. The Community Market brings together the activation of weekly farmers market vendors along with daily retail store customers.
The project will facelift the existing Temple Feed Store and provide a space for retail tenants while orienting more foot traffic around the corner to direct visitors to the main pavilion and lawn. This pavilion will be an open-air structure that houses vendors or markets throughout the year. Adjacent to this lies the historic masonry building, which will feature mural wall art on two large exterior facades and supply interior space for future public restrooms or vendor space. The existing historic stone structure will be transformed into a multipurpose performance stage and seating area overlooking the artificial lawn and pavilions. Its location between The Yard and MLK Festival Grounds and across the future location of the Temple Children’s Museum helps to anchor this site as another destination along the pedestrian route marked with new City projects.
